HOTC Dog Fair 2012
Monte Sano State Park - September 29, 2012

Obedience

Obedience training is the cornerstone of the successful integration of a dog into his family and community, and plays a huge role in many of the venues presented at this year's Dog Fair.  Visit the Obedience Ring to see trained dogs performing traditional obedience skills, then stick around to see how those skills can be integrated into awesome musical Freestyle routines.  The Rally Ring is another place to see those skills put to use as dogs and handlers negotiate a course requiring sits, downs, turns and other basic requirements you might encounter while out with your dog.  Later in the Freestyle & Obedience Ring, instructors will work with Dog Fair attendees to teach their dog a trick, yet another form of obedience.  In the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Ring, dogs attempt to achieve CGC certification by demonstrating obedience in a number of different situations.  Even Agility requires some obedience, since a dependable 'Stay' and a reliable 'Recall' are both important if a dog/handler team is to succeed in competition.

HOTC is a proponent of positive training methods which are effective, easy to understand, and fun for both the dog and handler.  The end result is a happy, relaxed dog who enjoys working, both on leash and off.  Classes are offered at all levels of training, check out the HOTC website for more details.

2011 Demonstration
